Monday Briefing – 6/23/14

What a week! Well, maybe it just seemed like a crazy-awesome week because my husband gave me the most wonderful gift … A new laptop! Not just any laptop, either. No, a beautiful and powerful gaming laptop!!! I of course had to immediately try out World of Warcraft, which looked stunning. I wanted to try Elder Scrolls Online, too, but they don’t have a free trial. Call me cheap, but I refuse to pay $60 for a game I can’t test first.

After the gaming binge, I uploaded Scrivener and all my files and tried out some writing – the keyboard is a delight and the laptop doesn’t heat up too much when just writing, so I can write on the couch or outside if I wanted. Yippee!

Despite the excitement, I managed to hit all my goals last week. Well, for the most part. I’ve selected my new book, added another review, worked on my novel, and watched five episodes of Prince of Tennis. I didn’t get around to the flash fiction, but the deadline has been moved back so I can try it out this week, instead. So, for the new goals!
Reading – Get at least halfway through my selected title. Add another book review.
Writing – Keep up the pace on the novel! Maybe even increase the pace.
Flash Fiction – Give the new prompt a try.
Personal – Doing a diet jump start. I’m leaving for England in about a month and a bit to be in my sister-in-law’s wedding, and I want to make sure I can fit in the bridesmaid dress! Might start typing and scheduling a few reviews and posts for while I’m away.

  1. Pre-writing is always a great idea. Since I started my new job, I had barely any time to blog, let alone write my novel. I’ve written my Word Porn Wednesday and Three:Thirty Thursday posts in advance just so I can be sure I don’t miss a day 🙂

I’ve been cheating on my novel a bit because I’ve been caught up reading The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks… but now that I’ve finished, I’m back on the ball!

    • Yeah, I tested the scheduling feature when I was visiting my baby brother for graduation. It made it super easy! I don’t want to take two weeks off the blog now that I’m finally on schedule with stuff. Luckily, the Wednesday and Friday posts are pretty easy to pre-write. The Monday ones might be a bit trickier. Then again, I could always say “Monday Briefing – Goal: Enjoy vacation!” 😀
